The FAA Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) is a traffic management ecosystem for unmanned operations that is separate from but complementary to the FAA’s Air Traffic Management (ATM) system. LAANC was a first step in the UTM process, supporting ATC authorization requirements for drone operations in controlled airspace. At Airspace Link, we see UTM playing a critical role in the future of UAS operations where scalable, BVLOS operations are an everyday occurrence.
