On September 4, 2024, an unexpected incident at Comerica Park in Detroit highlighted the growing need for robust airspace management in urban areas. During a Green Day concert attended by over 30,000 fans, an unauthorized drone flight caused a 10-minute interruption, raising concerns about public safety and event security.

The Green Day concert incident unfolded when security personnel spotted a drone flying over the crowd, prompting them to quickly usher the band offstage as a precautionary measure. The Detroit Police Department (DPD) swiftly responded, detaining the suspected drone pilot and initiating an investigation that has since been taken over by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Green Day later addressed the incident on social media, stating, "Stadium security had us clear the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue. DPD quickly resolved the situation, and we were able to continue. Thanks for understanding."
